Three Valley Lake Chateau was fantastic. Driving by with my family, we were so stunned by the beautiful setting that I joked we should stay, expecting it to be wildly expensive. We were shocked to find it was only around $200 a night, so we pulled the trigger and stayed. We also tacked on the ghost town family pass, which I 1,000% recommend. It’s equal parts interesting historic buildings and cooky decorating/ haunted railcar for some reason. We had smiles on our faces the entire time.
I noticed this place gets hit in the reviews for being outdated. While that’s technically true, the resulting low ratings feel entirely unfair, especially when those same reviewers praise the friendly staff, cleanliness, and amazing views.
It’s all about expectations and tradeoffs, and this place is priced perfectly for what it offers.
Want a modern room with crisp A/C and a 100-channel TV for $200 a night? Stay at a Hilton Garden Inn.
Want a stunning lakefront resort with every high-end modern luxury? Go spend $800 a night at a Fairmont.
Three Valley Lake Chateau is a unique, affordable compromise. Yes, there's no A/C, the TV is fuzzy, and the finishes are older, but it is clean, welcoming, and spectacularly beautiful. If it were fully renovated, it would cost three times as much, and my family would have simply driven past. Instead, we got an incredibly fun, memorable experience we won't forget. Highly recommended!
